The origins of Valentine’s Day are not really known, and even the date of February 14th is not certain… but that doesn’t stop Valentine’s Day from becoming an essential holiday that appeals to all lovers.

However, the Valentine’s Day story that stands out is that in Rome, Emperor Claudius II decided to ban marriage, as none of his suitors wanted anything to do with this dreadful character. In fact, he was nicknamed Claude le Cruel.

In spite of this, Saint Valentin celebrated weddings discreetly. The emperor had Saint Valentine imprisoned. It was at this point in his history that Saint Valentine met a blind damsel to whom he restored her sight and wrote her a sweet message signed “Your Valentine”.

Since then, lovers the world over have been exchanging sweet nothings on Valentine’s Day.
